21st March or 23rd March... when will IPL start? Now the new date is known!
A new date has come out regarding the start of IPL 2025. The broadcaster requested to start the match from Saturday, after which a slight change has been made in the schedule.
21 March or 23 March? There was confusion in the minds of fans regarding the opening match of IPL 2025 (IPL 2025 Start). The confusion was because the Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Rajiv Shukla had told the media the date as 23 March.
Then the report came that it was mistaken and the starting date is going to be 21 March. However, now a new date has come out regarding its start. If the report
of Cricbuzz is to be believed , this mega event can now start from March 22. The report said that earlier this date was Sunday, 23 March. But the broadcaster requested to start the match from Saturday. After which a slight change has been made in the schedule.
First match at Eden Gardens
According to the report, the first match of IPL 2025 will be played at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Where the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders will face Royal Challengers Bangalore.
However, the official schedule has not been released by BCCI yet. But the report revealed that the board has informally shared the dates with all the franchises.

- RR Vs KKR on 26th and RR Vs CSK on 30th March in Guwahati.
- Dharamshala likely to host 3 matches.

Cricbuzz's report quoted sources as saying that the final match will be held at the home ground of the defending champion. That is, the final match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25.
Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches will be held in Hyderabad. While Qualifier-2 will also be played in Kolkata. This time, some matches will be played in Dharamsala as well as Guwahati.
Like last time, this season also some matches of Punjab Kings will be played in Dharamsala.
Three matches can be played in Dharamsala this season. While Rajasthan Royals team will play two of its matches in Guwahati. These matches will be played on March 26 and March 30.
Let us tell you that IPL 2024 started on 22 March. RCB and CSK faced each other in the first match. The final was played on 26 May. KKR won the final match.
This time a mega auction was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for IPL. In which a total of Rs 639.15 crore was bid on 182 players.
