One more new platform will be built at Jodhpur railway station, passengers will get many facilities at a cost of Rs 32 crore

PLATEFORM INCREASE JODHPUR STATION: To provide better facilities to its passengers, Rajasthan Railways has started the construction of a new platform at Jodhpur Railway Station. 

The work of this platform will be completed in 1 year at a cost of Rs 32 crore. After this, there will be a total of 6 platforms at Jodhpur Railway Station, due to which passengers will not face any kind of inconvenience. It will be equipped with platform lift, escalator, food court and other modern passenger facilities. 

Jodhpur DRM Pankaj Kumar Singh of North Western Railway said that in view of the ever increasing traffic of passenger trains and goods trains at Jodhpur City Railway Station, the need for construction of additional platforms was felt for a long time and a proposal was made to the Railway Ministry for this. 

He said that as soon as the approval was received for construction of new platforms to facilitate the movement of trains at City Railway Station, work has been started.

DRM said that with the construction of platform number 6 through the Gati Shakti unit of the Railways, the length of already constructed platforms 4 and 5 will also increase to 580 meters and the width to 10 meters as per the prescribed standards, which will make it easier for passengers to board and deboard the coaches.

At present, the width of platforms 4 and 5 is very less at both ends, due to which passengers face a lot of inconvenience when trains arrive. 

Now, with the completion of the width, not only will this problem be solved, but by installing shelters on the platforms, they will also be protected from sun and rain. 

On Tuesday, Chief Project Manager (Gati Shakti Unit) Ashok Kumar Dhakad took stock of the construction work of platform number 6 of the railway station.

The new platforms will be full length

A new platform to be built at Jodhpur City Railway Station will have full capacity and length and width for which extensive yard remodeling is being done. 

The land of the nearby railway workshop is being used for the new construction and electrified yard remodeling. For this, the wall of railway quarters and bungalows is being broken to create a suitable place for the new platform.

IOC will change the location of pipeline and electrical substation

For the above ambitious work, the electrical sub-station and diesel pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation located near the workshop will be shifted elsewhere so that sufficient space can be made available.

The path will be easy

Jodhpur is a major station of the North Western Railway zone and the number of passengers and trains has been increasing continuously. There was a dire need to construct a new platform to deal with the problem of increasing traffic pressure.

trains will not be late

Senior DCM Vikas Kheda says that the construction of new platforms will expand passenger facilities and will largely solve the problem of trains being parked at nearby stations due to lack of space at the main railway station and getting delayed. 

Apart from this, the recent changes made at the terminal stations of many trains will also reduce the traffic pressure on the city railway station and make the trains run on time and smoothly.
