While coming from Dubai to India, a male passenger can bring 20 grams of gold (up to a maximum of Rs 50,000) with him without paying custom duty (Gold limit for men without duty). 

Within this amount, they can bring gold coins or bars to India and they will not have to pay any custom duty on it. However, if the amount of gold exceeds the limit of 20 grams or Rs 50,000, then they will have to pay custom duty on the additional grams.

Custom duty for men on bringing gold from Dubai to India

If a male traveler is bringing 20 to 50 grams of gold from Dubai to India, then the rate of custom duty is 3%. If he is bringing 50 to 100 grams of gold, then the rate of custom duty is 6%. And if he is bringing more than 100 grams of gold, then he will have to pay 10% custom duty.

How much duty-free gold can women bring from Dubai to India?

The duty-free gold limit for women passengers coming from Dubai is 40 grams, the maximum value of which is Rs 1 lakh. While coming from Dubai, women can bring gold in the form of coins, bars or jewellery. If they bring more gold than this limit, they will have to pay custom duty.

Custom duty for women on bringing gold from Dubai to India

If a female traveler is bringing 40 to 100 grams of gold from Dubai to India, she will have to pay 3% custom duty. If she is bringing 100 to 200 grams of gold to India, the custom duty is 6%. If the weight of gold is more than 200 grams, the custom duty is 10%.

How much gold can children bring from Dubai to India without customs duty?

The duty-free gold limit for children under 15 years of age is 40 grams. However, children will have to show proof of their relationship with the adults accompanying them.

Custom charge for bringing gold from Dubai to India for children-

If the child brings more than 40 grams of gold with him, then custom duty will have to be paid on the additional gold. If the amount of gold is between 40 to 100 grams, the custom duty is 3%. If the amount of gold is between 100 to 200 grams, then the custom duty is 6%. And if the child brings more than 200 grams of gold, then custom duty of 10% will have to be paid.

Custom duty on bringing gold coins from Dubai to India -

If the total weight of the coins brought from Dubai is less than 100 grams per passenger, then 10% custom duty is levied on the gold coins. If the total weight of the gold coins is between 20 to 100 grams, then 10% custom duty is applicable on the total value of the coins. If the total weight of the gold coins brought from Dubai is less than 20 grams, then you will not have to pay any custom duty on it.

Customs duty on gold for Indian passport holders

According to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Indian passport holders and Persons of Indian Origin are charged a concessional duty on gold @ 12.5% ​​+ Social Welfare Surcharge of 1.25% if staying for more than six months.

Documents required for bringing gold from Dubai to India
